“To imagine sound, electromagnetic waves or X-rays as if they were different levels (or octaves) of frequency that can be adequately described with simple numerical values, is only justified because of the analytical way of our thinking; and it makes sense only in the context of human awareness and reactions. Supersonics are far beyond the spectrum perceived by our human ears and auditory centers. No matter how many times we multiple their frequency, these supersonics will never become colors. The connection some people make between sound and colors is a product of a subjective, mental reaction to sound and color, but it has nothing to do with the corresponding objective periodical movements that are transmitted to consciousness with the hep of two totally different sensory organs, each of them relating to a particular kind of neural function and organic reactions”
