Los Altos resident Pat Gray works in the business of capitalizing on color. She advises local searchers on how to style themselves to best match their own physical makeup.

The art or science of color consulting began in the Bay Area in the 1940s when Suzanne Caygill started matching women’s complexions to flattering color categories, grouping people into “seasons.” She would observe hair, skin and eye shades, and recommend a palette of swatches around which to structure a wardrobe.
